Hey #medievaltwitter #runologists – halp! Does anyone know a proper historical source for these supposed Medieval bind runes? Or was Nigel Pennick relying on discredited pre-WW2 sources for this bit of esoterica in his mass-market rune books? https://t.co/1R3OGBSQIL

Pennick doesn't cite his sources (grimoires?) for these supposedly Dutch and German later-medieval runes. Page 77 of The Complete Illustrated Guide To Runes (1999). If this is legit, Erda's very likely pissed that Her rune is invoked to mean 'blood and soil' by racist chuds. pic.twitter.com/dJvH0YnYwF
